Importing OE or Outlook Messages

Can someone please help. I have an ACER desktop PC with OE6 and Outlook 2003
and Windows Media Edition installed and I want to transfer my messages to my
new ACER laptop which has Vista and Windows Mail. I have created a folder
under Users\User\Documents\OE Mail and copied the OE6 .dbx files into it.
When I try to import OE6 messages into Windows Mail it reports that no items
match the search when the above folder is browsed. As an alternative, I
created a similar Outlook folder and copied the Outlook .pst file into it.
When I try to import from Outlook I get the message "Messages cannot be
imported from the MAPI client", i.e. it doesn't allow browsing of the
folders. I do not have MS Office installed on my laptop and I assume that
this is the problem. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. In
case anyone is wondering why I need my e:mail messages on two computers, it's
because my desktop is faulty and will have to be returned to the supplier.

Did you make sure that the DBX files do not have the Read Only attribute?

Hi Frank,

Yes, I've checked the files and the read only attribute box is unchecked.
