importing and exporting

I have two computers with outlook 2003 on them and every time I try to
export my contacts onto my jump drive so I can take it to work to
import them ,I never can get the new dates on the calender or my new
contacts to import .

Any suggestions?

Only the one posted here every day. Exporting and importing are never the
correct way to transfer Outlook data. You copy your data file and open it in
the other installation.

Import and Export should only be used to import/export non-Outlook data.

To transfer contacts, either copy the entire PST file (while Outlook is
closed!), or create a transfer PST file, open it with Outlook, and copy
(drag-and-drop) the data you want to transfer. Here too, copy your PST
file only when Outlook is closed, otherwise you will have an
inconsistent file.

How can you do this with outlook closed when you need to use the
import/export wizard in outlook itself?

Repeating: you have no need to use import and export nor should you. The
instructions Pat gave were clear. You can read several other version of them
if it will help you:
