how do you export & import contacts and calender items?

i was able to export and import my old emails. but when i try to export and
import contacts and calender items..it doesnt work. i did the export on the
contacts and then tried to import back in outlook 2003. but on the import
for contacts and calender it just show "deleted" folder and some other folder.

so any1 here know the correct way to export and import for contacts and
calender? thx in advance.

ps - i know about file>data file management feature to export item for
outlook 97-2002 file.
