imcomplete win xp home update

I had a problem with my win xp op sys some time ago. I put the win xp disk in
the cd drive and tried to do an update thinking that it would fix the problem
on the already stalled op system. It did not complete.
I then resorted to an image of the drive. Now whenever I use the win xp disk
to repair, I get three choices: Continue with upgrade, reinstal/install
windows, or exit.
Is there a way this can be fixed without resorting to a complete reinstall
of windows?

Hi,

Select the option to continue, then cancel at the first opportunity. This
way the installer will clean up after itself.

Thanks for the reply Rick. I should have mentioned in the problem post that
I tried that, but windows xp did not clean it up. I get the same choices
each time. I click the continue and am able to proceed with a repair and
such, but the next time I come back the same choices are there.

So, I let the upgrade go through to the end. Had problems with a few
drivers, but reinstalling programs fixed them. However, the original problem
- the three selections - is still there. Must be a registry key.

Click start/run and type C:\boot.ini, then click ok. Copy/paste the contents
