imap aol sent folder append needed for authsmtp.com

I use aol imap with aol smtp: smtp.aol.com.

When emails are sent through this method, emails are automatically copied to the sent folder of the aol imap folders.

However, I also use www.authsmtp.com global email relay.

Unfortunately, I cannot append emails sent through this relay to the aol imap sent folder as they do not go through the aol server and are therefore NOT automatically copied to the IMAP sent folder.

There is an outlook rule listed on the internet for such occurrences but it only applies if you can relate the rule to an email sending address. As the global relay does not use email address accounts but only allows authsmtp email to relay through it, I am not sure how to achieve this, as I obviously cannot create an email account in outlook for authsmtp.

I have looked on mapilabs for addins but no luck.

Any registry hacks or plugins would be appreciated.

Thunderbird can do this without any problems, but then it certainly does support imap in a much better way as it does not have to worry about any ms exchange server/hosting bias.

The AOL server does this automatically. Messages will also be stored locally
if you've configured Outlook to do so.

Why?

1st Question: Adam, your email address suggests that you wrote a very important webpage about using aol outside of webmail etc, which I found a long time ago to be extremely useful. If that was you, then thank you.

Now, I use authmstp.com's service because it is extremely fast, efficient and allows you to send email from up to 10 domains or email addresses as any person with authsmtp (non-open relay) as long as the mailto:postmaster@XXdomain replies to the authsmtp 'confirmation of email address or domain ownership' email.
Also, because it's smtp ip address is on less blocklists than either our webdomain host's smtp address (which is also slow and unreliable for an authenticated smtp service) or aol's own smtp setup. It also allows up to 50MB attachments, scans on outgoing email etc and also backup copies on send.

Now, does anyone have an answer to this. It seems possible that there is no answer, but you never know.

With AOL's IMAP is it possible to direct mail straight to a folder - I
have seen some IMAP systems that let you specify the folder to be
delivered to with the email address - for instance something like:
(e-mail address removed)

So for example perhaps: (e-mail address removed)

Would need to ensure the 'sent' mail folder had the correct
permissions etc. - but it might work. If so then you could use the
duplication function within AuthSMTP www.authsmtp.com to deliver all
mail out through AuthSMTP to that folder?

Another possibility (again I don't use AOL so I don't know it's
capabilities) - you could filter based on something unique - perhaps
the 'from' address (as you would be sending it from your aol address).

- John.

You're welcome.

If you want to use AOL's Sent Items IMAP folder, you should use AOL's SMTP
server.
