Getting AOL to work in Outlook 2003

What I want achieve: Importing AOL mail to my Outlook 2003
Scenario: First, I have a good working knowledge of Outlook and a lot of
what it has to offer, in fact I had AOL folders up and running, but I changed
the name of the account in Email Set Up and blew it ALL out. Since then I've
set up the AOL Profile too many times to mention.
Set up procedure:
Click on "Tools", Email Accounts
Click on "Add New Email Account, radio button of IMAP since AOL uses this.
Fill in :Your Name
Fill in: Your email address
Fill in: imap.aol.com
Fill in: smtp.aol.com
Fill in: user name
Fill in: Password (for AOL account)
Click on "Remember Password"
Click on "SPA Authentication"
Click on More Settings
General Tab: Either put in a name you want or leave as is.
Outgoing Server Tab: Click on "Outgoing Server requires Authentication"
Leave next radio button as is, it should be "use same settings as Incoming
Mail"
Advance Tab: "Incoming Server(IMAP) is 143 (AOL)
"Outgoing Server(SMTP) is 587(AOL)
All other areas of this tab remain as is.
Click "OK"
Click "Finish"
Now, we should connect to AOL, however I get the pop up button saying
connection could not be established with AOL and I'm dead in the
water.....repeatedly.
I don't know what I did wrong. Is it possibly rules, etc(?) which I know
nothing about and frankly do not understand. I don't think I've left out
anything......
Thanks for your help!

AFAIK, AOL doesn't require SPA.

Rules have nothing to do with connection issue. If anything, it could be
caused by your virus scanner or firewall.
