Image Viewer won't open jpg

Lately I can't get my Image Viewer to open jpg files. I have to use
Windows picture and Fax, or really any number of other graphic files
viewers or editors that I have. Is there a reason to even have Image
Viewer at all if it does not open certain files, or is there a fix for
this? I may just change the default to something else and forget it,
but it just makes me curious.

Which Image Viewer? There are dozens available and we don't
know which one you are referring to.

It's called Imaging for Windows, on my system it's the default veiwer
when you click on a gif or jpg, even though with a jpg it pops up an
error that says This Document's Format Is Invalid or Not Supported.

Imaging for Windows is not a Microsoft product.
It used to be Kodak but now appears to be supplied by Global 360

Kodak imaging for Windows is not included with Windows XP

I would get rid of it if it doesn't work and use one of you other
viewers.

That's a good idea. It came with my system and has always been the
default picture software. I never would have knowing installed such a
thing myself.
