image extension problem

Hi,
Im running IE 6.0 with the service package 1 upgrade on a
windows XP system.
My problem is that when i go to save immages that are
usually .jpg i always get the prompt to save everything
as a bitmap file instead. I can only save in bitmap now
for some reason.
How can i fix this problem?
what is wrong with my settings?
It no longer gives me the option to save as a .jpg
or .gif file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

The usual fix is to clear your cache.
IE-Tools-Internet Options-Delete Files (in the TIF section)

That seems to work about 98% of the time but if it doesn't, close IE
and reopen and do it again. Also it has been reported that clear
cookies helps, but ensure you save any that you need.
