I'm Stumped

I have the following set up :

* XP Pro sp3 (all up todate)

* Digitech RP350 guitar expression pedal linked by a USB port to my PC,
latest drivers, latest software (called X-Edit).

On connecting the pedal to my PC, its is recognised, so far so good.

However, when I load X-Edit (the software to edit the pedal patches), it
loads the requisite drivers, then stops on the splash screen. I can move the
mouse around, but after clicking a few times or calling up Task Manager to
help shut the software down the PC freezes and I have to re-boot.

I have tried :

* un-installing the supplied drivers, re-booting, then letting XP re-install
the drivers. No change, the PC still freezes on X-Edit start up

* un-installing the X-Edit software, then re-booting and re-installing. The
PC still freezes on X-Edit start up.

* contacting the help desk of Digitech, they merely recommended the above 2
points plus a Hard Reset of the pedal (that resulted in me losing my patches
and guess what, the PC continued to freeze on the X-Edit splash screen.

* running Chkdisk (no errors) plus the HD is only 4% fragmented, so
potentially no problem there

I need .Net 2.0 installed (it is, along with versions 1, 3 and 3.5) and sp2
to make the software work. It worked after I installed sp3, so I think I can
rule that out as a potential error area.

I have no other trouble with USB ports (printer, Midi keyboard controller,
midi sound generator).

Any ideas ? Re-install USB port drivers ? Video drivers (however, I've
running the latest nVidia ones for some time with no problems) ?

Yours completely stumped,
Jerry

Youre USB ports driver/software is configured in xp by the chip-set
installation
utility for youre MB chip-set,get this at the hardware mfg web site
(intel/amd/
etc)...By the way,"what is a guitar expression pedal"...Either way,once the
utility
is installed, try reconnecting to another usb connection.

Been away.

Tried everything, no help from Digitech. Had to use the Final Solution -
complete re-install of systeM Now works a treat (fingers crossed).

A guitar expession pedal is a box containing a processor that generates
different guitar sounds that can be loinked together to create unique
"noises".

Cheers,
Jerry
