If Vista Server supports IPSec, do I still need ISA server?

Hello,

In our network, we have configured W3K server for routing and remote
access. Our employees are able to create VPN connections from their
home without any problems.

I now need to set up a VPN tunnel between our office and another
branch office. The branch office is using D-Link 804 router that
supports VPN connectivity.

Although the remote access server in W3K is capable of connecting two
branch offices, it does so using PPTP. IPSec is not supported. If I
need IPSec, I would need to install ISA server.

From what I have read, Vista Server supports IPSec. I am trying to

understand if this eliminates the need for ISA server.

Please note that the only reason I would need ISA server in our
current environment is to get it to talk to the remote D-Link 804
router.

What do you mean "IPSec is not supported"? You can setup IPSec on Windows 2003 server.

Hi Bob,

My goal is to set up a VPN tunnel from our main office to our branch
office.

To accomplish this, I need a handshake between Windows VPN Server and
D-Link 804 router.

For this, the VPN Server must support two things - IPSec and IKE.

With Windows 2003 VPN Server, we couldn't do this.

Is this possible with Vista VPN Server?
