fred

I can sign on to my ISP with no problem..but then cant connect to anyother
site or page on the ISP site...as the web address is seemingly corrupted.

I think I remember having this problem 3 or 4 years ago and it was a problem
with a policy file..however a scan of my disc shows no .pol file...

Any ideas - I already tried an uninstall and reinstall and that didnt change
the problem

Thanks

ok its not the pol file...I have checked out that dead end...

its seems to be trying to redirect me to a site ...that doesnt exist

and it is sending web addresses crazy www.www.fred.com.com for example....

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

That is a symptom that your DNS is not working.
Test your DNS with nslookup or ping -n 1

It could also be a symptom that you had a stuck Ctrl- key
E.g. that would be the effect of typing a complete server name
(a "URL" without the protocol prefix) and then pressing Ctrl-Enter.
