iexplorer does not open up in mail links

I am using XP Pro with Netscape as my mail reader. When I click on a
link in Netscape mail it opens up Netscape browser instead of Explorer. I
have went through tools and set Explorer to be the default browser but it
still will not work. It does not retain the settings. Need help...

I'm not sure that Netscape Mail will recognize IE as the default browser,
