opening images in IE 6

The conditions: WIN98 with both IE 6 and Netscape 6.1. I removed Netscape 6.1
but all the JPG.s retained the netscape icon. When trying to open the
pictures the message was no program associated with these pictures. I went to
properties but there was no button to change associations there. I then went
to explorer, tools, folder options, file types and changed the association
for jpg to IExplorer. Then tried to open a picture. Received same error
message, but when the error message was closed the picture opened in IE6
anyway. I then reinstalled Netscape 6.1 and looked for a place in it to
disassociate netscape from jpgs as I vaguely remember this being an option in
netscape 7? However, could not find it. Additionally, even though I have
reinstalled netscape 6.1, I am still getting the error message and then the
picture opens in IE. I then went back to , tools, folder options, file types
and changed the association for jpg back to what it was prior to my original
change. But I am still getting the error message and then the jpg opens in
IE6 even though it is displaying the netscape icon. Any suggestions? I want
to remove netscape and have the jpgs open normally in ie6.
