Iexplore illegal operation shutdowns?

I am running windows 98 with IE6 and using zoomtown as my
internet. I am continuously getting knocked off of the
internet with one of the two following messages.

1. Microsoft IE has encountered a problem and needs to
close.

2. Iexplore
This program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down.

This is happening way too much and it is driving me
crazy. I cannot surf the net at all and am not having any
luck with resolving the problem.
If anyone could please help me I would greatly appriciate
it.
