IEXPLORE illegal operation msg.

I use Windows 98 and while navigating on internet with IE 6, an Iexplore
message appears occasionally stating : «This program has performed an
illegal operation and will be shut down.»
The details indicate that IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module
USER.EXE at 001e: 00001676.

What causes this and what should I do to prevent it?
