IEEE 1394 install disables existing LAN connection

When I install my Pinnacle AV/DV capture board the 1394
card is automatically installed as Local Area Connection
2 and makes my existing ethernet LAN connection unusable.
Disabling the 1394 connection has no effect and I am
forced to remove the card and recover to an earlier date
to retore my connection. Is there any way to prevent auto
install of the 1394 or to restore my ethernet LAN
connection without removing the card and doing a system
recover? I have an existing 1394 connection on my Audigy
II sound card so I do not need the extra 1394 connection
and only need the card for analog video capture.

Thanks for replying to my message Mark. I have seen some
information on the web about this problem we are having.
It hasn't worked for me but it may for you. This link show
you how to remove the bridge that sets up automatically
when you install your hardware.

I also tried to remove my NIC card, Install my 1394 card,
remove the bridge and connect to my DSL line using my USB
connection and I still cannot access the internet. So it
is not just a conflict with NIC cards.

Send me a message back. What Chip set is in your Pinnacle
capture card. My 1394 card is from Belkin and they use
Lucent chips. I am going to buy another card and try that.

Have you called Pinnacle Tech. Support? What did they say.

FYI. You may want to look at you owners manuel on you mini
DV camcorder, most of them now have input jacks so you can
record your old movies onto your new camcorder then use
your original Firewire port. If you don't need the
Pinnacle capture card you can return it all and just buy
the Pinnacle software only.
