IE7 & Win2K ??

Not that I really care anymore now that I've moved on to another browser,
but has MS ever issued a (valid) reason why IE7 won't be available on Win2k?
I can possibly see their reasoning for not supporting for Win9x, but 2k?
Win2k is so close to XP I cannot possibly come up with any good reason why
they'd do other than the fact that they want to push people to XP and Vista.
MS has released games that allegedly only run on XP but I have found there
are usually very easy workarounds to getting them to run. I wonder if the
same will be possible with IE7?

There is a big difference between "supporting installation on" and "it
runs on". In the former, there has been testing done, but with the
latter, you're on your own. As to XP vs. 2K, some things will work with
2k SP3 but not 2k SP2, so YMMV.

The actual reason MS does not want or need to make IE7 run on W2k is that
officially W2k is in the "Extended Support Phase" of its lifecycle. They no
longer support W2k as an official operating system. They will continue to
write critical updates for it and offer paid support, but there will be no
more service packs or technology that runs on it specifically written. check
out this page for more information on MS policy on lifecycles.
