IE7 desktop shortcuts will not open

Running Windows XP. Recently installed IE7. Prior to install, IE6 desktop
shortcut links would directly open without any problem. After IE7 install,
none of the desktop shortcut links will open/connect (no error code - tries
to open but gets stuck). I have deleted all existing desktop shortcuts
created with IE6 and replaced them with shortcuts created with IE7 with the
same problem. The same links will open from favorites within IE7 - not sure
why the desktop shortcuts will not work anymore...

I see in http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx that
the recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general
