IE7 crashes when attempting to print

<sorry if this has been posted before by others - I couldn't find much>

My wife's computer (a Vista Home Premium machine) used to be able to print a webpage with no difficulty... until she upgraded to SP1. All other printing (e.g., from WORD and Adobe) is fine.

Our printer is connected to my computer and is on a network (thus, my computer must be on to print). Anyway, when she tries to print, now, IE7 closes and has to restart (and nothing goes to the printer). My son, the techie, came up with a work-around... but we don't like it. BEFORE my wife goes online she must right-click her IE7 icon and select "run as administrator" and then all is well.

My question is how to get her back to an easy printing from IE7.

Thanks.

Guess what, Ace! MOST people (we are the "guests") are reading your
post with a news reader the way Usenet was meant to be read.

Sorry, but your "Reputation" will have remain at whatever level it
currently is at until someone who uses that nasty web-based substitute
comes along.

Thanks. Tried the run with no add-ons, and it didn't work (i.e., it still
crashes).
Yes, checking "run as administrator" does, indeed, work.
It's just a pain for her because she needs to remember to do this each time
she boots up (and before she first opens IE7).
We are running McAffee (the suite that comes with Comcast)... and maybe
that's part of the problem.

I'll try the other links. Thanks again.

Tried some more and looked at these links. Looks like this is a
well-documented problem. Still, no luck. I'm not running AVG (oh, by the
way, my computer with Vista Home Premium prints find to this same printer).

Sorry... not sure what that is.
IE7 merely says it's closing down, and that's it. Is there a place to go see
what it really did?
Nearly all references to the problem seem to relate to this AVG program
(that we don't have).

My computer is unaffected, but her's (working through mine to get to the
printer) can print from any program except IE7.

Yes, there's a place to go see what it really did - the link I pointed you
to shows how to look it up in the Problem Reports and Solutions control
panel.

I checked the problem and it went out to look for a solution and nothing was
found.

That sounds like a relatively generic failure in what is likely a third
party extension or handler. If you turn off extensions, does IE stop
crashing?

Alternatively if that doesn't sort you out you could post up the actual
crash DMP (or open it yourself in the Windows Debugging Toolkit's debugger)
and it would likely point out what's crashing here.

Thanks. I tried to turn off the so-called "add-ins" and it didn't work.

I can try the debugging thing next (though I've never tried that). :)
