printing from IE7 after sp1

Printer HP Photosmart 3210 All in One
Vista Home Premium Edition with SP1
Ever since SP1 I can't print directly from IE7 - I can do a preview but
can't print there either. All the buttons are there and the printer appears
on the task bar but with 0 documents.
So at the moment I just have to select all, copy and paste into word (2007)
from where I can print without a problem. There are no error messages - just
no printing.
Anyone else had this problem?

Check your printer properties and see if it got set to "offline". If
so, all you missing print jobs will be sitting there in a queue,
waiting for you to set the printer back to online. I have not had
this happen from SP1 but I have had it happen in the past (not with
Vista, with XP).

No - nothing in the queue - this was one of the first places that I checked.

I think that tomorrow I will uninstall the printer drivers and then
re-install them to see if whatever it is that has been 'changed' can be
'changed' back!

Have un-installed printer drivers, etc and re-installed. Made not one jot of
difference.
BUT
Installed Firefox and that does print!

Firstly apologies for running my own thread BUT in another forum found an
answer.

If I turn off 'protected mode' the problem is solved.

I don't know if this is a good thing or not (and it is probably not) but at
least it works.

Same here ...
This ones a HP Desket 6500 series on a Vista Premium (No service 1pack
yet), but have found others are effected.
It really used to work in protected mode !
I've just spent over 3 hours trying any possible remedy no matter how
obscure known on the internet and guess what none of them work except
turning off protection mode !

Noticed lately this units IE7 is very crash prone on certain sites -
this started around the same time the web printing went.

Microsoft auto updates..... Don't think they seem to do much
reliabilty checking? Never forgave them for killing an email server
with a hot fix - yeah that happened too af ew years ago.

What else can I say, guess if more people complain they might look
into it?

Cheers.
