IE6SP1 quits unexpectedly

For about a week now, my IE6SP1 on XP Pro has been
quitting suddenly within the first 10 or so clicks to new
pages, sometimes even on trying to start up. Each time,
the page/window begins to appear then all open IE windows
quit.

I've swept the machine clean with the latest NAV virus
defs, so I tried installing q816506 in hopes of success -
no dice.

This is extremely annoying (enough to make me try
Netscape), so any suggestions on debugging this one would
be greatly appreciated.
