ie6sp1 explorer very slow

I have cable internet, ie6sp1 XP explorer was working
fine for months then it became slow. When you click on or
try to go anywhere, the web page loads very slow, you
hear what sounds like the harddrive making a series of 4
chee chee chee chee, this repeats constantly for a few
minutes before the web page will finaly open completly.
Virus scans and adware scans dont show anything.

I then downloaded and use netscape, which works but i
dont like the interface or features, i
would love to have my ie6sp1 XP explorer back.
