IE6 will not stay open and will not connect to home page

I have windows xp and IE6. I also have aol. Whenever I
open IE6 the windows opens and immediately closes. Right
before this started happening the ie6 window was staying
open but would not display homepage. I have virus
protection and have added all windows updates. I have
even changed the homepages and under internet options and
gone to web browser default values but the IE6 window
opens (blank) and then closes. Please Help
 
When you click the Internet Explorer icon, window may flash a second and quits. Or, it may show an Error-Reporting dialog. This may be due to a malware Browser Helper Object which causes Internet Explorer process to terminate. If you see the Error-Reporting dialog, click "to see what data this report contains" and identify the Module Name causing this error. In most cases, it may be the spyware DLL. Therefore, reinstalling Internet Explorer [in case of a spyware DLL] may not help.

To test with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet
Explorer
1. Click Start, Run, and type inetcpl.cpl. [or control inetcpl.cpl]
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.
