I have W2k2, and the latest version of Internet explorer. Usually, I connect
to the internet using a cable modem.
Recently, when I try to start IE, the system seems to freeze for
approximately 60 seconds before finally loading the home page. The internet
connection seems fine.
I recently installed a new dial up modem (not to be used for web browsing).
I think that IE 6 may be trying to use it instead of the cable modem.
I have tried:
Reinstalling the latest IE6 service pack
IE6 repair utility
in Internet properties, I checked off "never dial up"
deleting all temp int files and cookies
reset cache size to 10 MB and also tried very large sizes
multiple restart
uninstall new dialup modem and drivers
I downloaded a different browser, and it is working great, but I need IE6 to
work properly for some applications.
Any ideas?
Thanks
