IE6: Unable to launch .exe or open .pdf

Benz

Since upgrading to IE6 I have been unable to launch .exe
files or open .pdf documents from within the browser.

The files together with html pages all sit on local drive
(network share or CD).

example: file:///E:/video%20clips/1.exe

I can run these files ok outside of IE6.

Acrobat reader is v6.0
O/S is XP Pro with SP1 (same problem exists on W2K
machine)
IE version 6 patched up to date.

When you say "unable to" what happens when you try? When you type
"file:///E:/video%20clips/1.exe" as the Address in IE and press Enter, what
happens? Do you get an error message?
