Acrobat Reader - Very Slow Load Problems on view PDF file in IE6 SP1

I have the latest IE6 SP1 - running on WinXP Pro SP1 on a fast machine (P4
2.53, 1024Mb) - with all the patches & updates from the Windows Update site
applied. Also have Acrobat Reader 6.0 Basic, set up to view pdf links in the
browser.

Until a week-or-so back I had no issues, the pdf file used to open rapidly
in my IE6 window. However, it is now taking an age to launch this process -
I estimate well over a minute - & during this time the browser window in
question is 'dead'.

Tried reinstalling Acrobat Reader twice, same result.

Does anyone know if this problem is a result of some recent Windows Update?

Thanks :)

I have very similar problem with you. My problem was very
bizarre. I have over 60 users running different OSs
(Win98, W2K and Wxp) and different versions of Acrobat and
different versions of IE, that we allow user to view the
PDF in a frames page. We have no problem until 3 WKs
ago. All the users with IE6 have the problem. The
symptom is that it can take minutes to display a PDF
file. As a matter of facts, when I open Task Manager, I
can see the CUP utilization will go up to 100%. Do you
have any resolution after you post your problem to the
newsgroup?

Yep that sounds familiar, CPU maxing out...

No resolution I'm afraid, but I've since undertaken a complete reinstall
from disk-partitioning upwards & problem seems to have gone. It may be that
one of the latest IE patches conflicted with an earlier one which was not
installed again on a new system Update?
