IE6 Not releasing memory after closing in Win2000 Pro

Larry Groehler

I have I.E. 6 SP1 running with Win2000 Pro and have noticed that memory is
not being released when IE is shut down. Each session of IE will hold
memory in task manager and will not release unless I manually release it.

Has anyone seen this or know of a fix other than Netscape?

Thanks,

Larry,

I'm having the same problem with IE6 SP1 in WinXP Pro.
Just started a few days ago - possibly after one of those
automatic Windows security updates, but I'm not sure
about that. Waiting for an answer from some helpful
wizard in the know.

You may have an unwanted Spyware guest - hogging memory.

Removal Tool, your choice, novice users, Lavasoft's Ad-aware,

Advanced users, SpyBot Search & Destroy,

SpyBot home: http://security.kolla.de/
SpyBot How-To: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

Install either but both are not necessary, reboot, read FAQ and overview, use
online update feature to obtain the latest reference files, scan for Spyware
much like you would with your pre-installed anti-virus scanner.
Rid your machine of unwanted Spyware pests.
