Memory not released when IE6 closed

After browsing and opening/closing IE 6 several times,
the Task Manager shows all IE 6 still under Process and
consuming memory. Manually closing each task frees up
memory. How do I force IE 6 to release memory when it is
closed?

Jeff,
Another program is interfering with IE, probably a parasite/spyware/adware
program.
