Error when closing IE

When we close internet explorer, it doesn't matter what web page we were on,
we get the following message, The instruction at "0x01261ea8" referenced
memory at "0x01261ea8". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to
terminate the program. The blue title bar says, Acrobat IEHelper:
iexplore.exe - Application Error. Once we click ok, all seems to be well.
We were wondering how to stop this message from popping up when ever we close
IE. We are using windows xp version 5.1 and ie version 6. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
Try setting PDF files to open in Adobe Reader rather than in IE7.

Adobe Reader> Edit> Preferences> Internet> uncheck "Display PDF in browser."

Also, under Help, Adobe Reader has a "Repair" option. You might try that.

Next, I would uninstall / reinstall Adobe Reader.

Hope this helps,

Sorry, Don, no go. We went through all these steps. After uninstalling
adobe, we still got the error. When we reinstalled, we went from 7.0.9 to
8.1 and then went through all these steps again for good measure but still
getting the error when closing out of ie. Any other suggestions?

Hi,
Try this...
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions."
With IE6 SP2, go to Tools> Manage add-ons and disable Adobe add-ons.

Any improvement?

You restarted after uninstalling Adobe Reader, but the error persisted
before reinstalling?

I will use this tool to Remove the corrupt IEHelper for Adobe first, then
run a disk cleanUp (note if your System Configured to remember password you
can be selective in your cleaning for the IE Caches/Temp) and Defrag inn Safe
mode.

If you get Memory Cannot be read or written. As the name refer to, it is a
memory problem, some applications/programs
didn't release the memory in timely fashion causing the Error to be thrown by
the system error reporting tools.
Also it could be the work of malware, badly written applications installed
on your system including third party toolbars installed beside Internet
explorer, do you have other toolbars installed try to uninstall them, memory
gone bad or loose in their slots/dust also can cause this.
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
How to manage Add-Ons:

2... You need to be sure your system is clean from malware and Viruses by
scanning for them
Scan for malware from here:

=How to perform a clean boot procedure to prevent background programs from
interfering with a game or a program that you currently use

3... You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memtest by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.

You may need to reposition/reset the RAM sticks in their slots.
HTH.

Thanks! Unchecking the "enable third party" seemed to have done the trick!
Thanks again!
