IE6 HungAPP

I recently upgraded my computer from winxp home edition sp2 to win xp pro
sp2. AFter I tried to use IE 6, it will open to my home page (yahoo) but
when I try to open another url, it just locks up and then jumps back to yahoo
or it just freezes with a blank screen. I have loaded all the security
updates. When I use task manager to close and check the fault I get
szappname:iexplore.exe; szappver: 6.0.2900.2180;
szmodname:hungapp;szmodver:0.0.0.0;offset:00000000.

I try to dowwnload IE7 as a possible fix, but when I click on link, iget the
blank windows internet explorer screen and hungapp.

It's really frustrating that I cannot find a solution anywhere on this
problem but I see lots of posts with people experiencing the same issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tom,

Yahoo Companion toolbar installed? Check for an update for their toolbar.
Also are you using the tabbed browsing version of Yahoo Companion? Early
versions were a bit flakey. Check for an update.

There are big security changes with SP2, check for the latest versions of
any third-party software that you have installed prior to upgrading to SP2.
