ie6 crashing... installing new won't fix

C

comcon

I recently removed KLEZ from a customer's computer, and
now even after updating everything and doing the normal
routine that has worked on at least 100 other computers, I
am getting an error, "Expolorer has caused an invalid page
fault in module <unknown>" any time that I go to launch
the browser... I would much rather avoid a whole format,
so here is what I have done:

Re-installed win98se over the top;
Re-installed ie6 sp1;
removed all the hotbar and such crap;
there was no Go!Zilla as the only semi-helpful technet
article suggested;
removed internet explorer (revert to previous version) via
control panel;
Again installed ie6 sp1;

I have not manually removed internet exploder (pun
intended) yet, and am hoping for an easier solution than
that or formatting and reloading... any suggestions???

Thanks for your time

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy: http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/
It detects and removes all kinds of spyware, dialers, hijackers, and related nasties.

After installing, press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Now close all browser windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds.
When you've done all that, test your system, and see whether your problem is gone.

If it isn't, go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere

Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the appropriate section, press "new topic", explain your problem, and copy and
paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get expert assistance in
dealing with your problem.
