IE6 Browser errors

I have all the latest patches for my IE6 on W2K. I have
been trying to install Symantec Norton SystemWorks(NSW)
2004 Professional and have had no end of problems. I have
it installed, but NSW won't start. I checked on the
Symantec site which gave instructions to download
a 'Script 5.6' from Microsoft's web site. I can get to the
page with this file to download, but when I press the
[Download] button it returns an error message about 'Not
authorised to view this page..." (Http 403 error). I don't
know what is the problem, but further investigation says
it is an IE error.

Can I remove IE6, then re-install it from a W2K system?

Thanks very much.

p.s. I am using ZoneAlarm 5.05, and my Browser settings
are all the default.

Michael:
Yes, you can remove IE 6 & later re-install it.

Is your internet connection dialup or high speed?

What is the exact address of the web page you are trying
to utilize?

Consider the following steps:
1. run NSW's live update, to obtain the latest "patches"
from Symantec. Search for " LUALL.exe ", which should be
in C:\program files\symantec . Run it [ double left click
on it. ] Then check for the error by going to the
Microsoft site.

2. uninstall NSW, to include the antivirus program. Check
the Symantec website for specific instructions.

3. After NSW has been uninstalled, go to the Microsoft web
site. Does the error message persist?

Thanks Ed

I have dialup access (56k modem).
1. When I try to run 'live update' it fails with a LU1803
error. I checked Symantec's knowledge base, and error 1803
is across a number of their applications. I couldn't find
anything specific to LU.
2. If I try to go to www.symantec.com and go through their
automated support my IE6 browser gets killed off as
the 'lights' on the symantec web site say they are
checking my system configuration. I thought this error may
not be symantec's problem, but more an IE6 problem
considering I am having problems trying (being denied) to
download the 'script 5.6' software from Microsoft's site.
3. I will uninstall NSW tonight and try to access the
Microsoft site again to see if I can access this download
of script 5.6.

I'm finding Symantec has blown out their software to be
bloatware, because all I want is simple antivirus software.

Thanks very much again.
