IE6 access? what access?

whenever i go to access IE6 it states that "there has been
a problem and needs to close etc". The error report states
Error Signature
AppName:iexplore.exe AppVer:6.0.2800.1106
ModName:chp.dll ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset:00001209

My homepage is also changed to http:\\about:blank -
Microsoft Internet Explorer. The new about:blank homepage
appears but with no detail to it.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition. I had not suffered from
the internet connection slowing down, I've run a couple of
anti-virus patches (stinger and one from grisoft) but with
no success.

I have McAfee Security Centre software running and when
used to scan my files automatically quarantined the
following files:
wupdater.exe
GMT.exe
rvupdmgr.exe
simgr.exe
PerfectNav150.dll
cd_clint.dll
OLD2FB.tmp
comload.dll
wmplayer.exe.tmp

I have spoken to Microsoft technical support people at the
first stage level and they have past me on to the more
technical department.

I can connect using my e-mail account or dial-up connection
and am currently using netscape.

Are there any whizzes out there that can help me? This
seems to be a very popular problem that seems to have
stumped quite a few of us.

So what is chp.dll? It is not on my system.
