ie won't start

when I double click on the ie icon i see the hour glass and
then nothing happens. I have seen this repeatedly. I have
tried re-installing it and still the same thing. I am
running windows xp home edition. I downloaded netscape it
it runs fine. How do I fix the IE problem? I would prefer
to use this since most of my custom stuff runs off of it.

Lucky seems to be the expert with this problem. I tend to
think that some adware changed your IE registry.

This is probably being caused by third party programs- malware/parasites.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to work.
You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

Download and run Run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html (Alternate
site for CWShredder http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip)

Then download, install, *update* and run both of these programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/ (Remove items listed in red-others are
optional.)
Both programs should be updated after installation- before use.
