I just bought a used laptop with XP prof software. As the laptop was having problem lauching XP prof, I did installed Windows XP Home Edition. The installation went fine. But when I double click on IE icon nothing happened. Some time the click copies multiple IE icon on my desktop.
Paradoxly, when I manually open the address bar and type a link (for example www.google.com) and hit Enter, Internet works perfectly.

Can anybody tell was is wrong.

Regards.

Have you tried running in Safe Mode and resetting IE ?
Click Start > Click Run > Type " iexplore extoff " without quotations > When IE opens > Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Reset. This will take IE back to factory settings.

Alternatively you could use a decent browser like Google Chrome or Firefox :D
