IE won't do anything

I have windows xp professional and IE 6. I installed Norton AntiVirus 2004 and now IE 6 won't open. I click on the icon and it does nothing. No error or anything. I have tried removing Norton and reinstalling IE but it still does not work. Other browsers work fine.
 
I'm having the same problem. It's a software conflict and
I can't figure it out...
 
The thing that fixed it for me was the following:

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.

I also ran lavasoft adware and found some data miner called alexa that I had not seen before. I am not sure if that was an issue or not.
