IE Session Freezes - 2nd Opened Session Works Fine

I have a client that now has TWO computers experiencing the same problem
which led me to believe it was spyware or a virus but have come up empty
handed. Here is what happens and here is what I have done so far:

Both are running Windows XP Pro and IE 6.0 SP2. Both computers are figured
to access the internet via the Microsoft Proxy Server in SBS 2003.

Symptom: Open IE and it will load the home page, try to navigate away from
there and IE freezes up and I get the message "The page cannot be displayed"
..

Minimize this session and open a NEW session of IE and everything is fine!
This was happening only to one computer in the office, but now have a second
one with the same problem.

There has been a couple of other quirkey things happening too, such as not
being able to get to Trend Micro System website (however, I think I have
fixed that with all the things I have done so far.) and when you click on the
Windows Update from the Start menu, the browser will not load and will time
out.

I have done the following:

Made sure all updates have been installed
Installed and ran Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta Version
Ran McAfee Anti virus
Ran Trend Micro Systems Housecall Full System Scan
Re-Registared .Dll's
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll
Winsock XP Fix: netsh winsock reset
Checked HOSTS file
Deleted all Temp Internet & History files

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

They might be infested with malware. One program usually does not remove
