IE 6 freezes until I open a new IE session

This is a bit different from what I've seen posted so far. I'm using
XP SP2 and IE v6.0.2900.

Sometimes when browsing, IE freezes up completely. It's not related to
me clicking on a link, but happens sometimes when scrolling down a page
to read a news article or other things where I'm not triggering some
event.

I can sit there for 60 seconds and IE remains locked up. Anytime
during that period though, I can open a new IE session and the original
page unlocks and everything is fine again.

I've done the standard clear the cache, keep Temp Files small, check
for spyware, etc.

Does anyone else experience this and have a solution? thx

Yes, I get almost the same issue on a new HP Pavallion. My locked window
doesn't start responding when I open a new session though. HP had me
reinstall IE6 but that hasn't fixed the problem. HP wants me to install the
IE7 Beta but I'm not too keen on installing a beta version of anything.
