IE openes multiple browser sessions at statup problem

When I start IE 6.0 sp2, the browser opens and brings up the set homepage.
IE will then open another browser session to a different website (ex:
http://www.oldgames.se/), and if left alone IE will continue to open more
browser sessions to other websites. The farthest I have left it go is 7
open browser sessions.

I am running XP Home w/SP2 and all security updates. I had multiple pieces
of spyware and the small-rn virus on the computer. I have been able to
remove all spyware and the virus, but continue to have this problem with IE.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How did you remove spyware?
Did you use all three of these:
Ad-Aware (freshly updated)
Spybot S & D (freshly updated)
CWShredder (a new download to make sure it's the current one; a new release
just came out)

I ran Ad-aware SE, updated, followed by Bazooka, updated. I am running
Norton AV Corp. Ed. 9.0 with latest virus definitions.

Run Spybot S & D and CWShredder.
What You Should Know About Spyware
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/devioussoftware.mspx

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
