ie patch sent to my email - is this legit?

i've been getting quite a few emails for an ie patch, but
i'm not sure if the email is legit or not. i wanted to
find out if this email is infact from microsoft. here it
is below:

From: Microsoft <[email protected]>
Date: 12:19AM 09/17/03
To: (e-mail address removed)
Cc:
Subject: Use this patch immediately !


Dear friend , use this Internet Explorer patch now!
There are dangerous virus in the Internet now!
More than 500.000 already infected!

The e-mail from Microsoft is *not* legitimate - it is caused by a virus.
All Microsoft subscriber e-mail is signed with a "PGP" Key, unless
you are on a Security Notification subscription do not install any
of the attachments.
