I E Patch?

I received an e-mail (on 10/05/03) supposedly from
Microsoft with an attached "patch" for Internet Esplorer.
The e-mail reads:
"Dear friend , use this Internet Explorer patch now!
There are dangerous virus in the Internet now!
More than 500.000 already infected!"
That attached file is titled: Patch.exe
Atteached file is said to be 9.37 KB in size.
Has anyone else received this so called "patch"?
Is it for real or is it a virus or something.
I always use the automatic "Update Program" for Microsoft
and don't know why Mircrosoft would send one this way.
HELP!

Its a Trojan... Do not open the email. Delete it immediately. All Windows
Updates are done from the Windows Update site.
