IE locks up when loading Media Play (or Real Player)

IE 6 works fine normally but if i go to a web page that is
loading video files it attempts starts to load either
Media Player or Real Player (depending on file type) and
then IE locks up tight. Can't click on anything in other
browser windows.
Everything has been working on my system. Running on
Windows NT 4.0 SP6a (+ security patches). No changes in
months have been made and i checked using 2 utils for
worms/backdoors. This started about a week ago i think. i
tried re-installing both Real Player and Media player but
it did not help.
Any suggestions???

Sorry my ignorance but What's Zone alarm???? The sites i
am trying to access are in my trusted zone. TW, This is IE
6 under Windows NT 4.0. If zone alarm is an XP thing...
