IE issues with AOL

I am using Windows XP, with a cable modem. I can browse
the Internet using IE without AOL being open. However,
with AOL open, I cannot get IE to go to any web site.
This is frustrating, because I like to pull up info from
the web, and attach it to send to my AOL friends. All I
get is a DNS error, and it is very troubling. What can I
do to correct this problem? Thanking anyone in advance.

Just after you launch AOL, click on Modem Setup and run the AOL connection
detection thing, then choose the option to connect using an existing
connection (LAN?).

Create Network Diagnostics reports for each condition
and compare the differences.

E.g. Run... (press Win-R and enter: ) winmsd and then press Alt-T,N.
Set on all the scanning options. Do the scan and then expand
all items which show (FAILED).
