IE is autocompleting a webaddress even though auto is off and history is cleared

Hey all-
My browser (6.0.2900 SP2) is doing something strange. I have turned off
autocomplete, and blown away the history with Tools->Internet Options.
Yet, when I type in www.y in the web address window, it autocompletes to
Yahoo. Can this be removed??? If so, how??
Also, one other website autocompletes like that too (virus? hijack?)
Would like to blow them both away.
Thanks for hints
T.

Ok guys...I have searched all downloads and lots of people seem to have done
alot and still no complete removal of all URLs. I used CCleaner and cleared
everything.
Anyway, here was the fix....
You need to delete all Cookies/IE History INDEX.DAT files.
You need to do this in DOS and here's what I did (it worked).

Start computer and hit F8 while it is booting
Select Safe Mode with Command Prompt
At the prompt type CD\ and [hit enter]
at the C:> prompt type CD /S index.dat and [hit enter]
This will give all the instances of index.dat on the hard drive.
Start deleting them one by one
(you have to write them down and get to the directory and then type:

del index.dat [hit enter]

Good luck!
I was not worried about wiping all of them, as all of the directories were
internet
history or cookie folders...

Note, this produced 11 index.dats for me whereas, a EXPLORER search only
turned
up 2

Good luck!
