IE Icon on Desktop

I have a computer running WinXP pro and IE 6.0. How do I place the Internet
Explorer Icon on the desktop? Not a shortcut.

Earlier it was possible the check "Show Internet Explorer Icon on desktop"
under Advanced settings in Internet Explorer. On a pc running W2K and IE 6.0
it is possible.

Go Display Properties, On Desktop tab there is a Customize
Desktop button. That is where it works in XP Home.

I cannot see what diference it will make for you, Jens, but the simplest way
is to copy iexplorer.exe to your desktop.

Go to Programs/Internet Explorer/iexplorer.exe and right drag it to you
desktop and select 'Copy' instead of 'Create Shortcut' from the menu.

Good luck,

Control Panel - Display - Desktop page, and click the Customise button.
There is a check box for IE and for a couple of other potential desktop
icons
