IE has encountered a problem..

I can go to some web sites with no problem. Most sites I try to go to brings
up the error message, "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must
close." I've tried Doxdesk parasite scan, a Trojan scanner, a spyware scan
(spybot), and Symantec Anti-virus. I've removed cookies, and temporary
Internet files. What next?

Hi I am experiencing a similar problem, but I do not see any error messages.

The problem is restricted to my installation as I have tried this on several
machines and it only affects my latest XP Installation with SP2 applied on
the same day as base installation. The XP Installation is not more than 2
weeks old. I am completely up to date according to MS Update.

On certain pages of sites, the page is rendered for 1 second and then the
browser closes very quickly. I have a home laptop and I have tried from work
and those sites are fine.

I have tried FireFox and it responds identically to IE 6.0 which is even
stranger.

I have Norton Internet Security 2005, but I cannot see Norton causing the
problem.

Any further suggestions ?
