IE Hangs - <unknown> process

Whenever I launch IE (my homepage is www.comcast.net, but
it does it for most other sites), IE seems like it is
loading a page, but hangs when it gets to about 75%. If I
do control/alt/delete, I see a process in the task list
named "<unknown>". It usually takes several attempts to
terminate the task and it occasionally hangs the whole
machine.

I've cleared cache, cookies, and temp files. I suspect a
bad plug-in, but don't know where to start to find it.

Rich,
In IE> Tools> Options> Advanced, uncheck "Enable third party browser
extensions."

If that helps, try these programs (in this order)
BHODemon 1.0: http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
Ad-aware 6- Lavasoft: http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot - Search & Destroy: http://security.kolla.de/

If IE won't work long enough to download those programs, run MSCONFIG to
look at Startup programs. Uncheck suspicious entries. Restart. See if you
can find the culprit by process of elimination.

Hope this helps,
Don
