ie hang up during web search

i posted this a few days ago and got no response.
whenever i try to search using google or yahoo, ie hangs
up for a minute or so; much longer than usual. i open the
task manager and it has "not responding" next to ie.
after a bit, the search is executed and results show in
google/yahoo. what is causing this? it's very annoying.
i'm using xp and just downloaded service pack 2 a few
days ago. i've run spybot and adaware and it didn't help.
clicking links or favorites is no problem; pages load
instantly. the problem seemed to coincide with
downloading
the service pack. help. thanks.

I am having the exact same problem! Makes surfing so hard. Let's keep in
touch if you find a fix. I am running a Dell 600m.

will do. it's very annoying. i think it had something to do with service pack
2 that i just installed. please let me know if you find out anything that
