IE freezes with Yahoo mail

Can log on to YAHOO mail account with no problem, but then Internet Explorer
seems to freeze when clicking the Inbox, Bulk Mail, etc. Status bar at
bottom of screen just gets to 40%-50% and stops. On rare occasions I can
open my Inbox, but then trying to open any messages causes the freeze. If I
hit the STOP button or try closing IE shortly after the status bar stops, I
can. If I wait a minute or two, however, clicking anything on the screen
just results in a "beep". I can still start another IE window or do
anything else I want with the computer, but I can't minimize or close the IE
window with Yahoo mail. I either have to close it from Task Manager or
Reboot. Had a second user try opening their Yahoo mail account on this
computer and he had same problem. Both accounts work normally on another
computer with different ISP, however, so it appears to be related to
computer or ISP and not the Yahoo account. Both computers are XP machines
with all the upgrades. Any Google results I've tried recommend going to
Tools, Options, Delete Cookies, Delete files, and Clear History, but I've
tried that without any change. Any other ideas?

Hi,
First suspicion- McAfee phishing filter. Is that installed/running?

Next [assuming XP SP2] disable add-ons from IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. See
if one of them is the troublemaker.

Test... Startup in Safe Mode with Networking.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=315222 If the problem goes
away, a program that didn't load in Safe Mode is causing it. Look at
security, privacy, ad-blockers, etc. to find that program. You may be able
to uninstall/reinstall the program or disable a problematic feature. You may
have to uninstall it.

Hope this helps,
Don
