IE doesn't check if it's default

Hello
I changed my default browser (to Mozilla Firefox) and now I'd like to
change it back to IE. I check the box 'Internet Explorer should check
to see whether it is the default browser' but it doesn't do it. I have
tried toggling it on and off, rebooting the PC, editting the registry,
but all to no avail. When I start IE it doesn't check. What else can I
do?

W2K 5.00.2195 SP2

Uncheck it, then close everything and Restart the Computer. Now check it,
the close everything and Restart the computer. That might make it stick.
